Greetings dear birds! Here we are, on the brink of December already. And the rush of ads and deals and special offers is a full-on torrent. In the sea of buy-buy-buy, maybe take a moment and think about the things your purchases support.
When you shop small businesses, when you support local merchants, you are voting for a human-sized economy with your dollars. And that's an important vote - maybe one of the most important you can make.
In addition to getting the awesome, unique gifts you are buying, you are saying that you want your hard-earned money to go to the makers, the creatives, the local shop owners, and not into the pockets of far-off corporate executives.
We love to be able to show our loved ones we care while showing the world we support small businesses and our local community, where we can make a real difference. It feels so good!
In other news, we have a couple markets coming up - perfect places to flex your purchasing power. We'll be at the Hudson River Exchange Winter Market & Etsy Craft Party this Saturday, December 3rd, from noon until 8pm. This great market features 15 local vendors, and shares the evening with the Hudson Winter Walk, which looks to be quite the festive shindig.
The following weekend, we'll be at the former UAG space on Lark Street in Albany for the Lark Street Holiday Pop-Up, a sweet, cozy market put on by our pals at the Half Moon Market and featuring 11 local makers. This event is Friday, December 9th from 6 until 9pm, and Saturday, December 10th from 11am until 8pm. Saturday is the Santa Speedo Sprint down Lark, so it's bound to be a energetic day of fun and holiday cheer!
We hope we'll see you at one of these great markets - if not, you can always shop small by clicking over to our shop here. While you're there, you can check out our seasonal candle, Santa's Breath! OMG! We seriously cannot handle how scrumptious this candle is. It's made with peppermint essential oil and cocoa absolute, and it smells like Girl Scout Thin Mints cookies. So yummy. Might be the perfect addition to your natural holiday home, eh?
In any case, we hope you are gearing up for a wonderful December and holiday season, and remember to take care of yourself! Get some sunlight on your face and fresh air in your lungs. We'll be back with some more reflections on the season and nature pics next week...
With love from
The Tidy Thyme Crew
